If you have been waiting for news about the new book, I am sorry to have to tell you that the launch of Comrades of Dark Night has been rescheduled to May. However, this will now be in conjunction with the twentieth anniversary celebrations of the founding of [Red Squirrel Press.]() In an era where small publishing presses strugle to survive, even with funding, this independent one-woman press has survived brexit, the pandemic and the serious illness of the founder, and has gone from strength to strength. Sheila Wakefield's pristine production values led James Kirkup to entrust his work to her when she first launched and I have since known poets to burst into tears when they first see how beautiful their books are. I have lost count of how many titles have been published, but notice that they include works in thirteen languages.She has an unerring eye for a promising young poet, being the first publisher of Andrew MacMillan and Claire Askew among others, but is also remarkable for taking a chance on older poets whose work emerges later in life - my own first collection came out in 2011, when I was fifty-seven, and the oldest of her poets launched a debut on her eightieth birthday. She has since gone on to launch the highly esteemed short story magazine Postbox, while the Postbox imprint includes the award winning collection by Shelley Day What Are You Like . The newest venture is Tringa Press, dealing with nature writing and memoir, and its debut publication, The Ayrshire Nestling by Gerry Cambridge, was short-listed for the Saltire Awards. It is an enormous privilege to be associated with such a magnificent achievement, and I am profoundly grateful for all the opportunities it has given me. In April, the well-known eco-poet and seal expert [Susan Richardson ]() and I hope to launch an online workshop called Leaf Support, encouraging writers to think about how both wild and domesticated plants influence our lives and creating poetry from our refelections.
